Vol. 11 No. 1 Community News & Information May 28, 2007

In This Issue:

* WINDOWS VISTA
* MEMORIAL DAY SCHEDULE

WINDOWS VISTA

Many of you have been asking about NPL on Vista. Our testing has uncovered some issues that we need to address.

A very significant issue is the placement of RTIWIN.INI. Simply stated, Vista doesn't permit applications to put files in the Windows directory. What happens instead is the RTIWIN.INI file is placed in a virtual Windows directory for each user. That means it is not possible to change the RTIWIN.INI file and make it universal to all users.

Another issue is character box graphics do not display properly.  Specifically the lower left corner of a character box displays a nonsense character rather than the lower left corner of a box. The lower right corner of a character box is shifted slightly to the left and the vertical line does not line up with the line on the side of the box.

True box graphics display properly.

We continue to test Windows Vista and address the problems.
