IDE 5.01 NOW SHIPPING
If you are a currently renewed Reseller, a Revision 5.01 CD-ROM is on the way to you! It's our second release of the Niakwa Integrated Development Package. We realize that the wait has been longer than originally anticipated, but we believe that the end product is worth it. We appreciate your patience and we hope that you agree.
The NPL Revision 5.01 IDE includes all of the features in Revision 5.0 with the addition of the following:
- NPL V for SCO Unix Development Software
- Open NDM for TCP/IP
- 5.01 Windows Maintenance Release
- Selected portions of the NPL Revision 5.1 Beta (See below)
- NPL Revision 5.01 Addendum for SCO Unix
- Open NDM for TCP/IP Addendum
We are also working on the development of the Niakwa Workbench Debugger at this time as well as the fine tuning of the Open NDM Visual Utilities. Both of these items are currently in Alpha testing with the Beta release coming soon.
Please be aware that if you are overdue on your renewal you will not receive the latest IDE until you are current. If you are renewed and have not received your new IDE, please contact sales at Niakwa via e-mail at email@example.com
NPL REVISION 5.1 BETA PREVIEW
Included on the NPL 5.01 IDE are portions of the NPL 5.1 Beta Release. We realize the components of this Beta version are in much demand, and providing them to you now could help you in your current development and with product demonstrations.
Our Beta Release of the Open NDM for SQL databases is included so you can begin your work to make connections to any of five industry standard data bases. They are:
- Microsoft Access
- Microsoft SQL Server
- Oracle 8
- Pervasive SQL
- Pervasive Btrieve
We are also including new online documentation editions of the NPL V Statements Manual and the Visual Interface Manager (Vinny) Guide. The three remaining components planned for this 5.1 Release are:
1) The Niakwa Workbench Debugger - currently in Alpha testing
2) The Open NDM Visual Utilities for using NDM from the Workbench - ready for Beta and awaiting the Debugger release
3) IP support under Windows NT - currently in our R & D department
We are very hard at work now completing these products, which will be made available in Beta form to Gold resellers.
NEW REVISION RUNTIMES NOW SHIPPING FOR ALL RELEASE V ORDERS
As promised in our On-Line News Brief No. 19, we are now shipping Revision 5.01.07 for all Release V Windows orders and Revision 5.01.11 for all Release V SCO Unix orders. At this time Revision 5.00.09 for Windows and Revision 5.01.03 for SCO Unix are no longer available. This pertains to all purchases: new, upgrades and replacements.
The purpose of these new releases is to provide an immediate correction to the division error bug that was recently detected. Existing Windows Revision 5.00.09 and SCO Unix Revision 5.01.03 Gold Keys can be updated by applying the maintenance release currently available from our web site.
For more information on when the problem can occur, and for instructions on how to download the Maintenance Revisions, see the complete Division Bug Technical Note Number 91 at our website, at
