NPL for MS-DOS
NPL for 386/DOS-Extender

Summary

NPL for MS-DOS has been one of Niakwa's flagship platforms for over a decade, creating one of the most mature and stable platforms available, with the lowest memory requirements.  However, the demand for larger programs and more memory exceeded the capabilities within the MS-DOS world.  In 1991, Niakwa introduced NPL for 386/DOS-Extender, a 32-bit version of it's popular MS-DOS RunTime with a built-in DOS Protected Mode Interface (DPMI).  This broke the "640KB" boundary of DOS, allowing larger programs, and larger variables.

NPL for MS-DOS Runtime licenses are available in single-user, or multi-user licenses.   The multi-user licenses come in two variations: for NetBIOS networks only, or a "Supported Networks" version for Novell Netware or NetBIOS networks.

With the advent and popularity of MS-Windows (in association with MS-DOS), more and more users turn to the 32-bit multi-tasking environment of choice with our NPL for MS-Windows products.  But, for those remaining applications that rely on the simplicity of DOS, and/or the power of 32-bit programming, we continue to offer NPL solutions.
