NPL Release IV/FourD Handle Table Problem Fix
The Northwest Source Group's FourD product was found to produce a bug condition on NPL Release IV installations that could cause NPL A01 or 200 errors to be generated. These errors were due to the NPL file handle table overflowing memory and is corrected with the Revision 4.00.23.00.X versions of the RunTime executables.
NOTE: Other minor bug corrections have also been made with this version. For details, refer to NPL Bug Reports 8 and 9 (available on Niakwa's BBS).
Niakwa is distributing these updated executables through the Niakwa BBS or at the developers request by mail. To download the patch files from the Niakwa BBS, follow the steps shown below:
- Dial (708) 634-6227 from your modem.
- Enter your first and last name (or log in as GUEST if you are not a registered user).
- Enter your password (only required if you are a registered user).
- Enter "J 4" to join conference 4 - patches.
- Enter: "F" to show file menu.
- Enter: "1" for the download menu.
- Enter "D" to download.
- Enter the filespec:
"RUN.ZIP" for the standard RunTimes (RTI.EXE and RTP.EXE)
"RUNWIN.ZIP" for the Windows RunTimes (RTIWIN.EXE and RTPWIN.EXE)
"RUN386.ZIP" for the 386 RunTimes (RTI386.EXE and RTP386.EXE).
- Enter the appropriate protocol information to complete the download.
The update files are in a "zipped" format and can be unzipped by following the BBS instructions on this subject (from the BBS Main Menu select J for Join, 3 for General Info, B for Bulletins, and 1 for PKUNZIP Information).
The individual executable files for MS-DOS based systems can be installed by copying them to the end user's hard drive in the directory where the Niakwa Programming Language files are stored.
COPY A:RT*.EXE F:\BASIC2C
These new files will overwrite the existing RunTime files in the destination directory and tie into the currently installed security.
NOTE: Our Release IV product production (and SuperDOS sites) will not be updated until Revision 4.01 becomes available in the near future.
