Niakwa played a crucial role in preserving the legacy of the Wang 2200 computer. As Wang Laboratories shifted its focus, Niakwa developed a version of Wang’s Basic-2 language called Basic-2c and later NPL (Niakwa Programming Language). NPL ran on Unix, then DOS, and turned IBM PCs into Wang 2200-compatible machines, allowing many software companies to migrate their applications. Niakwa continued to improve NPL, keeping the Wang 2200’s legacy alive in the evolving computer landscape.
